This is nothing that Freeway can help you with. You will need to enable form fields in Acrobat Pro, and the visitor will need to open this PDF in Acrobat — not the plug-in in their browser — and send the finished form from within Acrobat. Alternatively, make a form in Freeway (a true Web form, which any browser can complete) and use the Send Form Action to wire it up to send the results by mail where you like.

That’s what I suspected but need to prove it to certain parties, lol! Thanks so much, I love this forum and rely on it heavily as a non-code person.

You just have to create the form in Acrobat Pro and format and save for distribution - here’s one I did for our wedding customers. OR through the Adobe online form builder - https://www.acrobat.com/formscentral/en/home.html

I forgot to say that you have to have the adobe reader plugin enabled in your browser

Why does this HAVE to be a PDF solution? If it HAS to be a web-based deal, why not make a web form?

I’ve made a few online data collections thingies like that using Google Docs and Google Drive. It’s free, easy and reliable. I’d show you, but these are for my customers to use.

Google Form lets you build free multipage, almost survey level forms - without knowing code. You can have the results collected in an online spreadsheet. You can restrict who sees these - you only, you and your client, etc. I have clients who use them to collect data for themselves, and I use them to keep track of work requests and billing data. You don’t own the interface, but then you don’t have to code it either.

The other extreme is to code your own webform, which you can then design and brand and all that… but my point here is that if you want to use the web to collect and collate this information, you should consider using a webform.

Best.

Thank you Big Erns for your excellent input. I think a web form is what I need but I haven’t come to an understanding of the way to do it. I see the form set-up in Freeway but don’t know what it means, the manual didn’t give me a clue. I will study further, I’m a complete novice but I’m sure that’s evident…

Thanks Ginjg it works in safari but it just won’t load in ff, I do have the plug-inenabled. I can get other pdfs okay. I’m not that savvy so I can’t guess why…

And another alternative is to use a service such as WuFoo http://www.wufoo.com/

There is a free offering but more importantly it is very easy to set up the most complicated of forms.

While Dave and Ernie have suggested a couple of good alternatives, having looked at both I can’t help but wonder why I even bother trying to learn to build database apps like this myself. I guess I’m feeling some job insecurity.

Well, i think this alternative maybe also useful. Kvisoft flipbook maker http://www.kvisoft.com/flipbook-maker/ , use it to convert PDF to flash flipbook, publish it as HTML, and then upload the file to website server, you can also set PDF download link to the publication, others can download the publication and share online.

you need a pro license for adobe acrobat in order to make it so. You might well try this tool https://online-form-builder.pdffiller.com/ but the file will be available from the link only, and it’s a paid tool
