Thanks a lot Max for your more then excellent work! I was wondering, there will be within a while a Dreamweaver plugin. I know the Adobe Muse community is also very hungry for a simple CMS. Will WY2 work for Muse like Dreamweaver will do?

Great news Max. I’m not the brightest spark when it comes to getting a handle on these new things but imagine it will all be easier with the Freeway Action version - any news on that yet?

Probbaly coming just in timne for a project a client and I were talking about yesterday. I guess the questions I have are -

Firstly, is WebYep 2 backwards compatible with 1? Is there a migration guide?

and

Secondly - are the new Actions intended to replace the version 1 Actions, or are they an entirely new batch so I can carry on using V1 Actions and WebYep in projects where they are currently used, or is it a case of “replace and hope”?

All the best,

Paul

Hi Paul all new actions and they are already rewritten The new ones are controlled from the a main folder action which can be set to version 1 or version 2 output and that effects all actions in the project which makes things easier

Hi Alain where did you read that?

Carla.. as for where is it: I am obliged to place the open source system on gihub and that can be found here: https://github.com/maxfancourt/WebYep but I am able to sell the the freeway actions and commercial version which is exactly the same as the open source version but I have added a commercial rich text editor and file an image uploader to it.. Look strange Max,

Carousel is working with scriptaculous.

If i set javascript library choice to scriptaculous, carousel is working but i cannot access to webyep logon window anymore.

The message is “you need to enable javascript in your browser” but it is yet…

What did i do wrong ?

max

19 Mar 2018, 4:30 pm

that sounds like you have too many libraries

if you already have a freeway action that uses script then more than likely its already written the js library reference into the head… If that is the case then in the config file set the preferred library to none modal window to scripty lightbox to scripty

then that should work

Hi Max,

so on the home page I use a sequence page action based on Scriptaculous. On other pages i use lightbox included in Webyep 2 and finally Carousel 2 on other pages.

Is there a conflict between those actions ? Isn’t it possible to use all of them on the same website when using Webyep ?

Anyway to fix it ?

Alain

max

20 Mar 2018, 8:52 am

Hi alain first I would turn modal windows off set set that to none then check to see if an image light box works the editing will work because we have set webyep back to pop up windows if its works then its a conflict with the different scriptaculus carousel script and the modal windows if it doesn’t then disable lightbox and and re enable modal window and check

if you still get errors then you have a proper conflict with the carousel and any webyep own script based effects scripts

I haven’t used the freeway scripty stuff much so hence why I am saying check to see whats causing it

21 Mar 2018, 3:25 pm

Hi Max

when the options are set to scripty either Lightbox or Carousel are working with Webyep. I only have some issues with Rich text editor that sometimes accepts modifications sometimes not especially with french accentuation. Sometimes even the spellchecker propositions are not retained. I have to log out from Webyep and try again to succeed. However the document and config file creator are set to french and unicode UTF8.

Nevertheless i sincerely thank you for all the support you provide on FreewayTalk.

i have built a lightbox gallery with Webyep new version and with your help. It works well but i have an issue with the “alt” text option in the image action. If i write an apostrophe in a caption, the text following it is not visible.

Hi alain I am checking now speak soon max

19 Apr 2018, 11:16 am

yep a real apostrophe does break it so you have a few choices 1 - add an acute accent

  ´

2 - or a modifier letter apostrophe

  ´

3 - or escape a normal apostrophie which a     & #39;   (remove the space between the & and the #)

  '

this method will work but I think the minute you return to it and try to amend it in webyep it converts it into a standard apostrophe, so you are back to it being breaking so I would use one of the others if you can

best I can do for the moment

within the webyep image palette click on the extended button and add this

27 Apr 2018, 7:39 pm

Hi billy you don’t actually need to set the data folder to 777 anymore that can be left as 755 (normal).

If you are having issues with loops and saving images then I can almost guarantee its a clash somewhere

Do this test:
Create a page and just use the webyep items and nothing else then see if you can populate the items within the loops, If you can, then its something on the original page which is messing the loops up. There is a quick way to get around this but for the moment do the test and come back to me> speak soon max

Wondering how to do the following: I have a gallery made up from a four column Backdraft responsive module, each column containing a WebYep 2 image placeholder, with clickable thumbnails to give the lightbox facility.

As it stands, the thumbnail images display the images from the top down and are cut off at a predetermined depth, as the client wants to avoid images of differing heights appearing in the same row as far as possible. This predetermined height adjusts with break points to avoid letter-boxing the images.

Is there any way I can centre the images vertically within the allocated space? I’ve tried various suggestions found on the web for centering images vertically within divs, but nothing seems to work.

The work in progress site and gallery page is here:

Hi everyone.
I am just updating the status of “were the WebYep2 freeway actions are”.
As you are probably aware, WebYep2 launched a few months ago, and I was going to follow that up (after a short test period) with the commercial version plus the freeway actions.
The good news was working with the WebYep community we’ve uncovered just a small handful of issues which don’t affect the normal usage of WebYep system, and of which most have been fixed in the latest betas. While I was doing that, something did dawn on me, that’s specific to Freeway. The hurdle to overcome is between freeway 6 and freeway 7, and how both applications handle styles. So my big question is: How many freeway users who use WebYep and use WebYep loops are using Freeway 6 if the answer is not many, then that may mean I change the way I handle the styles within loops

Any feedback would be appreciated max

Remember, all Actions are context-sensitive. If you don’t have an object applicable to that Action selected in the design view, the Action will just not appear in the list when you try to apply it. So for a Page Action, you have to ensure that nothing at all is selected. For an Item Action, you have to have the correct type of object (Graphic box or HTML box) selected. For an Action Item, you have to have either a flashing text cursor somewhere, or nothing selected, in order to Insert / Action Item / [pick Action here].

Hullo Walter,

Thanks for your contribution. Indeed I have been using this action set for a few years and am familiar with the setup etc but the only actions available in any elected state are the login button and the Rich text one. The other actions are not showing in the menu edit-actions list. I’d set it up on a site built in an earlier version of Freeway and was starting the process of reconfiguring it in Freeway 7 with a view to making it as responsive.

Its frustrating when a wee quick job is met with an unexpected technical issue such as this. I thought maybe if I could get version 3.4 and do a fresh install then it might at least rule this out as a possible reason.

Thanks again and hope you are well.

Hullo again,

For future reference I had the hosting company downgrade the php version from version 7 to 5.4 and the page is working fine.

I assume that its a lot of work for Max to rewrite the script to be able to work in the most up to date php version. I was just curious what the advantages of with the more up to date version as opposed to the older versions? Every day is a school day so if there is a way to understand this more it would be interesting.

Hi sorry for not very quickly responding , but I was away on holiday.

Ok… version 1 of the WebYep system works from version PHP 5.6.33 version 2 of WebYep works from 5.4 up to the latest 7.2.7

So yes it was huge amount of work to make WebYep work in php7 a lot of code had to be rewritten

all the older WebYep actions for freeway: 3, 3.1, 3,2 eat are intended to be used with version 1 of the WebYep systems

The new (not released) 3.5 version works for both older WebYep systems and the new version. Again as in the WebYep system itself a lot had to be rewritten

I will be launching the new WebYep actions for freeway the minute I get settled back into work

As a side note version 2.1 o WebYep system is also finished it contains a new language (Spanish) and we have squashed some bugs which we found in version 2

Hi Max, thanks so much! I haven’t used Freeway for a while but I will need to do need to do some updates at some point. I contacted David Owen (ineedwebhosting.co.uk) about Freeway’s compatibility with PHP 7.0 and he recommended I contact you for the release of WebYep 2 as it’s compatible with PHP 7.0

Thanks again!

Best wishes
