[Pro] MagicZoom

Hi Guys

Been so long since I used a Magic Zoom image. I can not remember how to link the small image to the large image using

<img src=”small-image.jpg”>

can anyone help please.

You mean how to construct such a link in Freeway? Draw or insert a graphic box, and import your image into it. With that box selected (corner handles showing) press Command-K or Edit / Hyperlink from the main menu. Choose the External URL option in the tabs of that interface, and enter the absolute URL to the big image. Press the Extended button, and add class as the Name and MagicZoom as the Value.

You won’t be able to preview this in Freeway, but it should work when you preview in browser or upload and visit the site. Also, assuming you have worked out how to add the script tag to link to the MagicZoom JavaScript. I don’t know any specifics of how to do that per se, since I don’t know how it is packaged.

Hi Walter

Nice to see you still on here after all these years!

It is the no.4 point in this instruction I am stuck on

https://www.magictoolbox.com/magiczoom/integration/

I have it working on a live site OK but am missing the link of the small image to the large one and I can’t see how or where I did it! I just get the link to the large image obviously.

Having to add a new zoom to an image on the same site.

Did my instructions help any? That’s how you add a link to an image, along with a classname on the link itself.

Hi Walter

I still can not find my error. On the small image on Freeway page, I have a link to the large image on the server in Resources. In Edit Hyperlink - Extended - I have class: MagicZoom

On upload - when I roll over the small image - I just get the large image in a window on its own.

Could you post a link to the page?

This is a deeply weird page. I can see that the image has a link on it. But that link is not in the HTML when I click on the image and choose Inspect Element from the Develop menu in Safari. I have not been able to work out how this link gets applied. [update] I found it! It’s using an Image Map, not a normal link tag. Image Maps cannot have a class applied to them. Check this image carefully — ensure that it is in a completely normal (rectangular) image box, and that the box itself is the target for the link. It would appear that you drew an image map over the top of the image box, and applied the link that way. Either that, or there was a drop shadow applied to the image box (making it non-rectangular) or it was drawn in a non-rectangular shape (doesn’t appear to be the case).

There are other issues on this page that you’ll need to address before you can expect JavaScript features to work predictably. First, you have Roman Cart in this page, but it’s not set up to work properly in a secure page. You cannot mix secure (https) and ordinary (http) content in the same page.

Also, how, in The Year of Our Internet, 2019, have you managed to get <font> tags to appear in your page? I’d seriously like to know. Is this part of the Roman Cart code?

Start over, on a new blank page. Apply the Magic Zoom script to the page as you have done elsewhere, and draw a graphic box. Fill it with an image. While the corner handles are showing on that box, choose Edit / Hyperlink or press Command-K. Use the Hyperlink dialog as above. This will work to apply a class to a link. But that’s not happening here, because of the way you applied the link “above” the image, not to it.
