Transparent Background?
I’ve tried clicking Transparent Background, but it’s still white. Am I missing something? How can I get just the elements of the animation on a transparent background?
Thanks.

13 Jan 2011, 8:54 pmHi Bob, Th transparent setting isn’t held in the SWF file itself but the HTML that EWA creates to hold the SWF animation. If you look at the File/ HTML Source dialog you’ll see reference to the transparent setting. To do this in Freeway import your SWF into your Freeway page as normal and select Item/ Extended. Click New and enter; name: wmode value: transparent Click OK twice to back out of the dialogs and when you publish or preview you should now see the animation against your page color. Regards, Tim.

18 Apr 2011, 5:10 amTim, I did as stated in your post. It worked, but the only thing that is wrong is that the background for the EWA was the bottom layer (background of page). I needed the EWA on a picture and the transparent part be the picture and not the bottom layer. Is there a fix for this?

18 Apr 2011, 7:41 amI’m not quite sure what you are trying to do but if you set the EWA background to transparent using the technique previously mentioned you can add your own 24-bit PNG images and any transparent areas will show through both the image and background to reveal the Freeway page below it. Regards, Tim.

18 Apr 2011, 1:10 pmTim,
Thanks for the response. I will try to explain better. I have the background (gray) on FWP and on top of that I have a picture. What I would like to do is put the EWA Flash on top of the picture and have the picture to be the background and not the gray background.
I followed your pervious post and I did get the EWA to be transparent but not the correct background.

18 Apr 2011, 2:23 pmOK. I think what I may have missed is that you also need to tell Freeway that the background of the Flash item should be transparent. Select the EWA item in your Freeway layout and select Item > Extended. Make sure the Embed tab is selected and click on the New button. in the resulting dialog enter; name:wmode value:transparent Click OK twice to get back to the document and preview to see if this looks any better. Now thye Flash object should be transparent, as well as the background in EWA and (hopefully) anything behind this should show through. Regards, Tim.

18 Apr 2011, 3:27 pmI still see the background (bottom layer). I would like to see the picture (second layer) as the background. The background is gray, the picture is next, and then the EWA Flash. The flash is showing the bottom layer and not the picture. Is there a way to show the second layer?
Thanks.

19 Apr 2011, 1:31 pmYes, I created the rotating star animation in EWA and the rest 9the image and grey background) in Freeway. The thing to remember is to not only make sure that the background color is set to transparent in EWA but also in set the wmode in Freeway to transparent as well. See my previous post for details on how to do this. You won’t see the image show through in Freeway’s design view but as soon as you preview or publish the image should show through the transparent areas of the Flash object. I hope this helps. Regards, Tim.
